Walter
Tessa and WalterWalter giddyTessa's nightmareWalter (formerly Hershey)Hi,

I am Walter Magoo and let me tell you: I was one lucky dachshund. You see - I was supposed to be put down because I am old and my owners couldn't take care of me anymore. (At least, that's the rumor. ) Someone saw me sitting on death row and decided that I'm way too cute to die and thanks to all the nice and wonderful people from DRNA I got another chance. Now you may ask: Why rescue a 14 year-old dog ? I may be 14, but I'm a very sweet little guy, I have you know ! I am very forgetful and my new hu-woman is glad that I am not the fastest kid on the block and she can easily outrun me. I live with two wirehair dachshunds Bica (formerly "Maisie"/DRNA rescue) and Rodney (retired show champ). Then there is another dog. Really big. A shiloh shepherd by the name of Tessa. She is really sweet with me and keeps my ears clean and my coat polished.

My foster mom Jakki took excellent care of me and she made sure that my new mom knows all about my daily routines. A deaf guy my age hates too much change in his life and it will mess with his lifestyle. About four days into my new adventure with my new family, Miss Bica decided that I looked at her the wrong way and she bit me in the tush. I had to have stitches and my routine went south, which confused the daylights out of me. It took me almost two days to get into the groove again. Bitches ! I tell you. Rodney and Tessa are nice to me and don't mind me being a bit wobbly on my old paws. Because I do have a few age related ailments, I have to take all these pills. My new hu-woman hides them in chicken filet and I really don't mind taking them that way. Yummy !

I do miss my foster mom and dad and I really want to thank them for being so nice and caring with me. I've been a very good boy in my new furever home and you all would be very proud of me ! Considering I'm not the most flexible guy on the planet I thought I was doing pretty good. That's all for now. I think hu-woman wants to take me outside now for some R-and-R and a massage. She knows how to do stress point therapy on dogs and horses and it feels dynamite !

Thanks, DRNA for saving my life and giving me another chance ! You guys rock ! ! !

Your grateful
Mr. Walter Magoo (formerly Hershey)

Wicket (now Miloh)
Miloh is happyOh what a sweet pea Wicket is (now renamed Miloh). She is simply the most loving dog you would ever encounter (aside from her brother, Maxi, of course!) She and Maxi, as you can see from the photo, are inseparable now. They truly act like siblings.

One can only imagine the life she endured prior to coming into my home, but from now on, she is safe in her "forever home"!

She makes the best pillow for me and Maxi – her hair is so soft (a mixture of long and short coat) and the cutest shade of red! All she wants to do day and night is cuddle and kiss…it's the best feeling in the world to come home to her and her brother – two of the most loving souls! Thank you, DRNA, for pairing us together!

Willow
WillowHi, My name is Willow and I want to tell you how happy I am now.

I went from my family I had been with for a long time to a foster Mommy. She was very good to me and all my dachshund brothers and sisters, and we still love her a lot. One night my new Mommy and sister took me home with them. I was nervous for a few hours until I figured out that I was going to be "The Princess" of the family. When I got to my new house, I found out that I had some more sisters waiting on me. So I have lots of love and family now. I sleep with my Mommy every night, which I really like.

I have a very busy life now. My sister plays soccer and my Mommy got me a scarf that is just like the team uniforms. So now I go to all the games. Once I got loose from Mommy and ran into the goalie box and sat right now under the net! (Mommy came out on the field and got me so I didn't get to play goalie). Here's a picture of me in my uniform with my soccer ball.

I got to sit at the judges' stand with my Mommy at the Boalsburg Memorial Day parade. My Dad was the parade announcer. I "announced "that I wanted the judges to vote for the Greyhounds when they walked by. So the Greyhounds won a prize in the parade thanks to me! My life sure is fun and people can't believe I'm 10 years old. I don't feel like it and my Mommy says I don't act like it either. So if anyone tells you that you shouldn't adopt an older dachshund, just don't believe it. My family loves me even though I'm not a puppy, but I sure do act like one. I'm a very happy little girl now.

Wilson
WilsonWilson is such a mischief but oh, so lovable. So lovable, in fact, that the very day we took him into our home as a foster for DRNA, we just had to have him. More specifically, *I* just had to have him. My husband was happy just having our one dog, Missy, and fostering a second from time to time. But because I was so enamored, of course he let us adopt Wilson. I have never bonded so quickly and so strongly with any animal. He's my little old man because he has tiny gray hairs around his nose, but he's only 3. At least, that's how old we think he is - originally, he was a stray picked up by the county shelter and then released to DRNA. Poor thing! But now he has a home (I think I got the better end of that deal).

Thanks DRNA!

Winnie
WillowHi DRNA friends!!! Its Winnie... or Winnie the Wonder Weenie as my family sometimes calls me. I am having such a GREAT time with my new forever family!!! They treat me like the princess that I am! I swear they have bought me more clothes, bones, and toys than I have ever seen! I am enjoying my doggie brothers and sisters... although my 16 year old dachshund sister, Leezel, had to be put to sleep the day after Thanksgiving. I was thankful that I had the chance to spend my very first holiday with her before she made her way over the Rainbow Bridge. My family is so good to me... my Mom, Dad, and Grammy tote me around everywhere they go! I just love to go in the car and visit Petsmart. Everyone there is so proud of my Mom for getting me from DRNA. And of course, everyone that sees me thinks that I am the cutest angel they ever saw!!! Looking forward to Christmas cause I've been told that Santa is gonna bring me more toys and bones!!! I get to meet him this weekend and get my picture taken with him. I can't wait!!! Hope all of my foster brothers and sisters are doing well and find forever homes as wonderful as mine!!!

Love,
Winnie
