| Stella is a dark chocolate (she looks black in some photos) Dachshund Terrier Mix who is about 2 years old and weighs 18lbs. She was rescued in TX from an area notorious for dumping unwanted dogs and brought to MD to find her forever home. She has a condition to her right eye called microphthalmia which is a big word for "born with an abnormally small eye". As a result, she has very limited vision in that eye. It does NOT require drops or treatment of any kind and it doesn’t bother or affect her. She is one of the sweetest, happy-go-lucky, loving, snuggling, pups we have had the pleasure of fostering. Someone is going to get themselves a wonderful dog that is eager to be a part of a forever family. Stella is completely house-broken, a good listener and doesn’t bark. We have only heard her let out a bark one time while we were playing and we think she even surprised herself! She is crate trained but does fine out of the crate when left alone in the house. She likes lounging around but since she is young she will fit best with someone that has the time to play with her each day and who already has a playful dog about Stella’s same age & weight. She will also require a home with a securely fenced yard. She loves to play fetch and is one of our first fosters who actually brings the toy back for you to throw again. lol. On a few more notes, Stella is a good eater and takes treats so gently it’s almost funny. She loves sleeping in the “big bed” at night. She has not been tested around kitties but does well with kids. She enjoys walks and is always happy to meet other walkers along the way. She is wonderful with other dogs including our senior Dachshund Mix. She cant wait to have herself a fur sister or brother to play with each day!! If you are interested in adopting Stella, please fill out an application.
