PUPDATE-Clara has been diagnosed with Lyme's nephritis. She is doing well on her meds and special food but its only a matter of time before her kidneys stop working. We are going to give her as much time as we can , filling her days with long walks (which she LOVES) and lots of snuggles.
Hello. My name is Clara. I was picked up as a stray in VA and taken to a shelter. The shelter was excited to find out that I was micro chipped so they were able to contact my owner but the sad news is my owner didn’t want me back.
My rescuer told me that it’s going to be ok because DRNA stepped in. They could tell I wasn’t in the greatest shape; I walk funny and I am severely underweight, but they wanted me anyway! They ran some tests and the good news is I am Heartworm negative but the bad news is I am positive for Ehrlichia and Lyme which are caused by tics. They also found out I have renal disease which requires special KD food. Even with my new food and medication, I’m still not gaining weight so I am going to need more tests to find out why. I am reaching out to you this holiday season for donation help so I can have the testing I need and to ultimately be adopted into a family that will keep me. So far, DRNA has spent over $500 on my care.
I’m a really good girl and my rescuers think I’m worth it. My foster dad says that I am one of the happiest and sweetest dogs he has ever met and that I will find my loving forever home real soon. I am ok here in the meantime, my foster sis Ruby loves to sleep in bed with me and I really enjoy my walks around the neighborhood meeting new people and other dogs. Maybe by Christmas I can meet my new family, that would be the best gift of all!
