Biography
Sweet delightful Annabelle was given up by her owners because she has some physical shortcomings which they thought could only be addressed by surgery. My vet said she can lead a normal life without surgery as long as her adopter keeps her slim and trim and that surgery can't guarantee her a pain-free life. Right now she isn't in pain but she may get arthritis as she ages. Her right front leg and elbow are malformed. She has very bowed rear legs and a pronounced arch in her back. This isn't really that big of a surprise since doxies are a dwarf breed and often have imperfections in their legs - some little, some big. Annabelle is your typical young dog: loves to play with other dogs and toys, is working on her potty skills and loves to run around the securely fenced yard. She is pretty good about staying in a crate. She is a funny goofy girl who loves attention. Her most annoying habit is her whining when another dog has a toy or nylabone she wants but she just stares at them (and whines) and grabs it when they aren't paying attention! She's a very smart girl. Her former owner said she knows how to ring a bell to go out and that will go home with her. She needs a home where someone is home, there is a small young dog (or two) her age and energy level (high), no children and a securely fenced single-family yard. She doesn't bark much but when she does, she has a big voice. ***Applicants must be willing to drive to Ellicott City, Maryland (10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt Annabelle.****
