Biography
Hello, I'm Dixie and I'm whistlin' trying to find my new home! My former owners couldn't keep me for some reason - probably this bad economy, that's been happening to a lot of my brethren lately, I've heard. I am about 12 years old but I don't act it - my frosted face is the only thing that gives me away. I'm looking for the right lap and person or family to take care of me in my retirement - although I've got LOTS of years left, I'm barely middle-aged for a dachshund! Please email my foster mom about me - I need to get away from the growly tiny Chihuahua that rules the roost here! P.S. I am housetrained!
Note from foster mom: Dixie has been very sick and we almost lost her - all because someone did not spay her when she was younger! She developed pyometria, an infection in the uterus, but she has recovered from that, and is doing well. Dixie had surgery to remove two large bladder stones and needs to be kept on prescription Urinary S/O food for the rest of her life. It's not expensive, as she only eats 1/3 cup twice a day. This is to prevent the stones from re-occuring, as they cause pain for her. She's had a rough time and but she's a fighter and has pulled through - now all she needs is her forever home!
