Biography
Poor Fluffy was turned in to a local shelter along with four Chihuahuas from the same home because the owners said they had too many dogs. He is a very handsome boy. It's not really clear what kind of life he had, or even if he was an inside dog, but he seems to have missed a lot in the TLC category. He is timid at times and will be fearful when he transitions to his new home so he will need a very patient adopter. He will do best in a single-family home with securely fenced yard where the adopter doesn't expect him to walk on a leash. He doesn't have leash-walking skills since his previous owners were probably hoarders. Also, if your fence isn't 100% secure, you can expect Fluffy to escape under or through the fence.

Fluffy is a sweet gentle dog. He mixes well with other dogs in his foster home but he may not be entirely comfortable with a dominant one. He doesn't play with the other dogs yet. The first night he followed everyone upstairs, found a place in the big bed and fell asleep. If you are on the sofa or in bed he will lie next to or on you but for some reason he is uncomfortable when you are standing. He will shy away from you or lay under the table which is quite sad. Fluffy will follow you around but at distance. He is making progress every day. He mastered the doggie door and will go outside by himself. If the other dogs are barking outside he will go out and investigate. He likes to sit by you and lick your face. When you come home from work he will be at the door to greet you.

Fluffy is not a picky eater. He is a little thin so we are feeding him extra. He does well around other dogs while eating. He is not food aggressive with people. Fluffy is making progress but he is not house-trained. He isn't crate-trained either. In the morning when it's time to go out, he will follow you but if you are standing over him he is intimidated and won't go out.

****Applicants must be willing to travel to Ellicott City MD (10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt Fluffy. His adoption fee is $275.****
