| Van here and not for nothing I have a brand new story...well it's OLD to me but I think it's new to my wonderful and loving DRNA foster folks. First off, I was surrendered to them because I had been the "baby" at my former owners' home my entire life from puppyhood but then they had a human baby of their own and things went downhill from there. Well let me tell you I am the sweetest most adorable lovable but until now SUPREMELY MISUNDERSTOOD part dachshund part Australian shepherd mix. I am intelligent, I am handsome, I love my person, I do NOT care for most other dogs especially if they are on my turf, I have a high prey instinct and I love to chase cats and squirrels. I despise being crated and I have some food and toy aggression...right now I am in a home with other dogs and a cat and a foster mom I love...I am needy and I cling to her. We tried introducing me to some potential adopters but I sort of lost control with another much smaller dog they were adopting so that was the end of that. WHAT DO I NEED? I need to be on a farm...I am a herding/hunter dog! Dogs like me go after other animals if not trained properly and obviously I have not been. I am going to be working with a trainer this week but the environment I am in is SO WRONG for me... I look more like a dachshund but act more like an Aussie. I need a strong pack leader human to train me and love me in that order and NO CHILDREN. I am told that shelters are FULL of Aussies just because we can be so tough but Foster Mom can tell you how great the rewards are.
