2nd UPDATE: Toby is now running around on all four legs! He can even run up and down stairs. He is really growing fast as if to make up for lost time. He is learning to walk on a leash with a harness. He is making great strides. ************************************************************************************************************************************************* 1st UPDATE: Because of the generosity of many DRNA donors, Toby was able to have surgery to repair his left front leg. After the pin comes out, he will have months of rehab on both legs. We are optimistic that he will get to use that left leg someday. The surgeons say his right leg will straighten out on its own as he gains strength through use and rehab. All good news! Thank you to everyone who helped Toby. ************************************************************************************************************************************************** Isn't this little boy cute? He sure is but..... he is the product of greedy and indiscriminate breeding. Surely, the breeder was hoping to make a bundle on selling an almost white dachshund puppy but Toby became a victim of that greed. He was born with crippled and twisted front legs and is unable to walk or run like a normal puppy. He is sweet as can be and tries with all his puppy might to keep up with the older doxies in his foster home because he loves other dogs and wants to play with them. Although he is an active puppy, he also loves to be cuddled. He loves his toys. Toby needs a kind and compassionate adopter who has a track record of caring for a dog with mobility issues and who will, on one hand, allow him to be a dog and on the other, protect him from being hurt. His requirements: an at-home adopter (not just one who works from home), a small playful young dog buddy (or two or three - the more the merrier), a fenced yard, no children, no cats, no big dogs, no older senior dogs who dislike young dog antics. ****Applicant should be willing to drive to Ellicott City, Maryland (10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt Toby.**** |
