Biography
At first glance Chapo puts up a tough guy front but if you peel back the layers you’ll find Chapo is a sweet guy that is in desperate need of love, understanding, patience, and most importantly tenderness and trust. It takes him a good bit of time to trust you, but once he does, he’s a very special, loving boy. He thrives on positive praise and gentle handling. Chapo is not one that you can ever raise a hand to, and once he’s moved past the hard-core front into trust, he cowers when you raise your voice or even walk too quickly towards him. He was somewhat abused by his past owner in that they allowed their child to play very rough with him. We believe he was hurt by the child and due to that he puts up that tough guy front. Once you break thru that with gentle, loving, kindness and he has learned you will not hurt him, he really is a good dog. He loves to be loved by his trusted humans and seeks attention, pets, and even a couple kisses! Chapo has learned he enjoys human touch and attention and he is sweet and loving. He will be a great companion for his adult human family interested in giving this special guy a chance at a wonderful, loving life. If you are looking for a faithful sidekick, then Chapo is the one for you! He is very loving and will be a great companion to any human that would appreciate a lap dog. Chapo needs time to adjusted to his new humans, schedule, routine, and situation/environment. Chapo is fearful of children due to his past, and will growl. His favorite past-time is to relax with you and have some nice play-time in the fenced yard.

Chapo's ideal home would have a fenced yard, no children (visiting or otherwise) and another dog who is small, female, friendly, playful, confident Otherwise he could be an only dog. He is good in a crate. Breed experience is a must. He is a great watchdog! ****Applicants must be willing to travel to Ellicott City MD (10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt Chapo. His adoption fee is $275.****
