Biography
Charlie and his sister Lady Gray (11981) came to DRNA as owner surrenders, through no fault of their own. They were being kept outside with an electric fence surrounding the yard. Charlie was injured when he bumped into the fence and then was attacked by a larger dog. Another dog was injured at the time as well. The family took that dog to the vet but did not seek medical treatment for Charlie. Thankfully, a good Samaritan was able to step in and help Charlie and Lady. Charlie was taken to the vet for his injuries and his neck has healed beautifully.
Due to the trauma and neglect, Charlie came to his foster home incredibly timid. For the first few days, he wanted nothing to do with going back outside. He would not take a treat from foster mom when the others were receiving one. At night he was content to sleep in his own bed with his fleece blanket beside foster mom's bed. Once his neck healed, he started to decompress and the sweetest little personality has emerged. He is still timid, but has made progress. He is very loving, sweet and tenderhearted. His DRNA foster brother Milo (11982) has been the best therapist Charlie could ever have. Charlie now plays with Milo, so foster mom would love to see him have a sibling who likes to play, but isn't overly boisterous. He has yet to show any interest in playing with toys. He loves having a canine pal to sleep next to as well, as he has always had Lady for a companion. He enjoys being outside and insists on being the first one out the door to see if the neighborhood cat is under the side porch. Charlie absolutely lives for belly rubs and will paw at you if you stop and he wants more :) He loves to sleep in the big bed next to foster mom now. He now gets excited at treat time.
*Charlie needs a patient, experienced dog owner who will give him the time and space he needs to make a successful transition to a new home and family. He would do best in a quiet home with no young children. Dog savvy older children only. He enjoys exploring his yard, so a fenced in area would be beneficial. He doesn't always let foster mom know when he has to potty, so we're still working on that. He is on a grain free diet which has made an amazing improvement in his skin and coat.

Charlie is a sweetheart of a doxie who deserves a fabulous forever family who will spoil him rotten. He would do awesome being adopted with Lady Gray or Milo if you were interested in growing your family!! ADOPTION FEE: $275
