Biography
Hello, my name is Harley. I came into rescue with my wife and daughter. We lost the home we lived in all our lives because our person could no longer afford to keep us. You see; he was a bachelor that met a woman and quickly made two small kids, and those are expensive. They worked full time and became full time students. Changes to our life resulted in more time spent in a crate than out. We are fortunate that our person came to realize we deserved better. Molly and I believe it is a good time for our daughter to move into her own place. Mom and Daughter just don’t agree most of the time. [She is listed with DRNA # 11322 for placement.] Molly and I are looking for our own comfortable place to call home. We are currently staying with our foster people near Scottdale, PA (they tell me they will help drive us to our new place).
Items we want included in our fur-ever home are something like we have at the foster home. We enjoy exploring the fenced in back yard and are learning the doggie door. (Doggy door isorg. tional) If you open the door and encourage us to go out we will. However; if you don’t firmly say “Go Potty” and turn us around – we may sneak back in and leave a surprise on your floor. Please don’t always leave it up to us to tell you we need to go out. Being Dachshunds we will do our own thing unless reminded. Every two hours and right after eats and drinks have been working well. We are both goo in a crate for several hours. We do let ourselves out the doggy door during the night. Foster Mom believes our reluctance to go out all the time has a lot to do with the Western Pa weather right now. I would like Molly and me to be the only dogs in your world, but get on well with the other dogs here in the foster home. We have a positive history with small children, but older ones would suit us best. I am very long and fear children not picking me up correctly. Visiting munchkins would be fine if they are taught how to play with us. Sleeping in the big bed is awesome! However; at this point just getting a forever home to enjoy a doggie bed or sofa will be appreciated. When our people need to be out, we stay together in a crate, understanding the command “Kennel”.
My foster-mom says I am a handsome, 9 year old regal looking black and tan smooth mini-gentleman. She calls me a “lovie-guy” because I appreciate a warm pillow, hugs and kisses. I give just as many kisses as I get, sometimes more! I am very affectionate and want to be near someone all the time. I will often ask to be places in your lap. A very important request is I ask you please be careful with my diet. Snacks and food must be Grain/Gluten free, or I will have a seizure. I currently am eating Turkey and Potato from Rachael Ray. Foster mom adds some pumpkin, because it is so healthy for us Doxies.
My darling wife Molly is also black and tan smooth hair mini with a champion blood line. I have loved her for all her 8 years because we came from the same breeder (and she is beautiful and kind). She is happy sharing squeaky toys with me. Molly and I both enjoy chewies together. She really loves sun puddles and is anxiously waiting for summer. Her personality is happy, bright, playful and affectionate. Molly also wants a lot of lap time.
Molly and I are eager to find a new family to share our affection with. If you believe you have that home, fill out an application today! DRNA.org.
Thanks to everyone who shares our story.
