| This is Blue, named so because he has one blue eye. Blue has come a long way since first arriving in rescue when he was scared, shy and confused. You see Blue lost the only home and family he had ever known due to economic issues and them having to move into a small apartment. But with a little time & love he has learned he is safe, life is good and oh what a very happy boy he is now. He is always so happy to see you and always ready to give and receive love, attention and kisses, Blue gets along great with other dachshunds and needs a buddy dachshund in his forever home to help calm him. A single family home with a fenced in yard is a must as when Blue gets excited he will bark. He loves everyone including kids, but can be a tad exuberant when it comes to food or treats and he may accidentally nip a finger in his excitement. He always feels bad afterward but just can't seem to help himself when it comes to food. We are working on sitting until the food bowl is placed on the floor, but his little body just wiggles so much he can't sit still long. So with Blue's food excitement issues he will not be placed in a home with young children, as we don't want him stealing food out of their hands and accidentally nipping a finger in the process. Blue has learned to use the doggie door to potty outside and hasn't tried to mark anything since his neuter. He sleeps in a crate at night, but would much prefer snuggling in the big bed with his person. He has not been cat tested, but we have a feeling he wouldn't do well. He loves his Nylabones, chewies and destuffing squeaky toys. His favorite place is to be curled up next to you on the sofa whether reading a book or watching TV. So if you are looking to add a happy, loving dachshund to your home please consider Blue. Must be adopted within 100 miles of Norfolk, VA unless willing to drive to Norfolk for adoption.
