| Poor Macie has had a rough start in the first year of her life. First, due to poor breeding she has poor eye sight and minimal depth perception. Then she and her older brother Percy (same parents’ different litters) were purchased by someone who kept them outdoor all the time in all sorts of weather conditions. These “wonderful” new owners also failed to get any Veterinary care, vaccinations or heartworm medications for them…just tossed them in the backyard when they were no longer cute tiny puppies. By the time a Rural Virginia Animal Control got a hold of these 2 poor dachshunds, Percy was already Heartworm positive at his young age. Luckily, Macie was heartworm negative but is very shy and timid since she hadn’t been well socialized. So Macie needs a quiet home with someone who will be patient, kind and loving with her. Someone to show her how wonderful having a family is, that she will be protected and that no harm will happen to her. She also needs a dachshund buddy to help her adjust and to be her companion and eyes. Macie is working on housetraining and doing very well. So if you have a quiet life style and are looking for a dachshund in need of a lot of love, Macie is your girl. The progress she has made so far in foster care has been amazing and we know with time and love she is going to make someone a wonderful family member.
